Hello, thank you so much for visiting Your Online Pianist:
We are Mandy and Harry Cook. We are both brass players and teachers. We are French horn and Trombone/Tuba specialists respectively.
In our work as teachers we started to experience first-hand, the problems that a lack of a regular pianist can cause for pupils preparing for grade exams.
We found that backing tracks were readily available for the more popular woodwind and Brass instruments but struggled to find tracks for Horn, Trombone, Bassoon etc. Because of this we began to record them ourselves to help our students prepare for exams.
As neither of us play Piano we use a computer and a digital keyboard to record the accompaniments. This means they are faithful to the written music and consistent in quality.
We made the decision to record accompaniments for all the instruments on both the ABRSM and Trinity Guildhall syllabuses and in September 2006, Your Online Pianist (YOP) went live.
We have invested thousands of pounds in sheet music: if you need a recording of a piece that is shown on our site but is not yet available or is not the ABRSM or Trinity Guildhall syllabus please contact us as there is a good chance we have the music. If we don't, we will source the sheet music from one of our regular suppliers record the accompaniment for you.
